Member Spotlight: From Silent Listener to Leading Discussions
by Temka·Friday, April 10, 2026
Three months ago, member3 joined Tokalot as a complete beginner. Today, they regularly lead small group discussions and recently passed a job interview conducted entirely in English. We sat down to talk about their journey. **How did you feel at your first session?** "Honestly, terrified. I understood most of what was being said but I could not form sentences when it was my turn." **What made you keep coming?** "The instructors never made me feel embarrassed. When I made mistakes, they corrected me gently and moved on. And the other members were in the same situation." **What changed?** "Consistency. I forced myself to come at least twice a week even when I was tired. After about two months I noticed I was thinking in English rather than translating in my head." **Any advice for new members?** "Do not wait until you feel ready to speak. You will never feel ready. Just start, make mistakes, and keep going. The progress happens faster than you think."
